Flying to the Big Island
The Big Island Hawaii is easily accessible by airplane. Most routes will take travelers to Hawaii’s major airport, Honolulu International Airport (HNL) on Oahu island and then offer a short flight to the Hawaiian island of their choice. Here are some tips to remember before booking your ticket:

• Try to stay over a Saturday night
• More seats tend to be available on actual holidays rather than right before or just after
• Book your flight 21 or more days in advance
• Avoid the busiest travel days, such as Fridays and Mondays
• Except for Thanksgiving, travel between November 1 and December 15th is the slowest time of the year for air travel
• Try to fly from a major city and book your flight directly to Honolulu, HI

Boating to the Big Island
While limited ferry service exists between Honolulu and Maui and other islands, you may want to check with your travel agent to see which companies offer convenient boating transportation to the Big Island. For the angler in us all, cruise boats visit the Hawaiian Big Islands on a regular basis.
